Managing related documents can quickly become complex as systems grow. However, by using fields that are custom, you gain a simple and effective way to link documents directly to records. This keeps everything connected and easy to find.
Linked documents through the use of these fields—that are custom in nature—also support better workflows. Updates stay aligned, collaboration improves, and important information remains accessible in context. With a structured yet flexible approach, document management becomes clearer, faster, and more reliable when you use these tailored fields.
Here is an example on how to use these customizable fields to link a Sales order and a Purchase order.
Step 1
By going to Automatization/Customization > Custom fields > Sales order, you will create a new field with your own description. In the Type field, you will select a ‘Purchase order’ as a type option.

Step 2
When creating a Sales order, go under the section labeled custom fields. Then select the desired Purchase order and link it accordingly to the Sales order.

Step 3
Once you hit ‘Save’, the Sales order you created will have the linked document (in this case, a PO number). This works using the custom fields functionality.
